Android 13 schedule: When will it launch?
Here's when the developer previews and betas will launch and when we expect the stable version to land.

- The basic Android 13 schedule is here.
- Overall, the schedule looks to be shorter than last year’s, with at least two developer previews and four betas.
- If all goes well, we could see an August 2022 launch of the stable release.
So far, Google has launched two developer previews for Android 13, with the second launching on March 17. These are very early versions of the operating system. Although anyone can download and install the latest DP, the software will be bug-riddled and unstable, so it’s primarily just for developers (hence the name).
That being said, these early DPs represent our first taste of what the next version of Android will look like. As such, it might get you excited for the rest of the Android 13 schedule and when you can expect the stable version to launch.
Below, we’ve compiled all the info we have so far on the release schedule of Android 13.
Android 13 schedule
Google supplied us with the loose Android 13 schedule you see above. All in all, it’s a significantly shorter timeline than what we saw for Android 12 last year. If all goes to plan, we should see the first beta launch in April. Then, we should see at least three more beta launches between April and July. Google has said it aims to reach platform stability by June 2022.
Assuming there are no major setbacks, the stable launch of Android 13 should land around August 2022.
For the sake of comparison, Android 12’s stable launch happened on October 19, 2021. However, the transition from Android 11 to Android 12 was significant. Considering it doesn’t appear the shift from Android 12 to Android 13 will be nearly as drastic, it’s very possible Google will move things along a lot faster this year.
In the meantime, here are the significant Android 13 schedule milestones we’ve seen so far:
- February 10, 2022 — Android 13 DP 1
- March 17, 2022 — Android 13 DP 2
