Morbius Final Trailer Reveals Jared Leto’s Finished Vampire Form
The third and final trailer for Sony Pictures' next Spider-Man-spinoff film, Morbius, starring Jared Leto as the titular anti-hero, has been released.
The third and final trailer for Morbius, starring Jared Leto as the Marvel villain, has finally been released. Sony’s Spider-Man Universe isn’t stopping anytime soon as the studio continues to bring famous villains from Peter Parker’s mythology to the screen. While the web-slinger has yet to appear in Sony’s Marvel-inspired franchise, Morbius will address Spider-Man’s existence in one way or another. Following Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Michael Morbius is the next Spider-Man baddie to get their own standalone film. Much like Eddie Brock and his Symbiote, Sony is taking the anti-hero route with Leto’s Morbius, drawing directly from the canon.
Morbius was set to hit theaters in July 2020 but got pushed back numerous times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At last, the Daniel Espinosa-directed film arrives in cinema in less than two months as Leto takes on another comic book character. Morbius tells the story of Michael, a scientist that tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease, with a little help from vampires. The movie also stars Matt Smith as Loxias Crown, Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft, Tyrese Gibson as Simon Stroud, Al Madrigal as Alberto Rodriguez, and Jared Harris as Morbius’s mysterious mentor. Michael Keaton, who played The Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming, is reprising the role of Adrian Toomes in some capacity.
With less than two months to go, Sony Pictures has officially released the third and final Morbius trailer, giving fans another look at their latest Marvel adventure.
While they have been keeping his role under wrap, the new Morbius footage shows a lot more of Michael Keaton, who is presumably playing Adrian Toomes, a.k.a. The Vulture, although the trailer doesn’t really indicate that the trailer does if this iteration has anything to do with his MCU counterpart. But this does confirm that Keaton has at least more than just a cameo, as the final trailer indicates that he has some form of influence on Michael as he tries to come to terms with newly discovered abilities. Whether or not Keaton’s character breaks out of prison remains to be seen.
What is probably the biggest takeaway, aside from the stunning visuals for Morbius’ vampire look, is Smith’s Loxias taking a bigger spotlight. In the previous Morbius trailers, the Doctor Who star has only appeared briefly without any dialogue, making this the first proper taste of the character in the Marvel anti-hero film. It’s still unclear if Loxias is the main villain of the story or just one of several obstacles for Michael, but they are definitely on opposite sides, based on their interaction in the trailer. Overall, the final Morbius footage looks incredibly solid, and it will be interesting to see how the new franchise ties into Sony’s ever-growing Spider-Man Universe.
