A former U.S. Marine, struggling with dissociative identity disorder, is granted the powers of an Egyptian moon god. But he soon finds out that these newfound powers can be both a blessing and a curse to his troubled life.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand its Disney+ offerings with Moon Knight, which is based on the comic book character of the same name. In Marvel Comics,  the character was born Marc Spector, a mercenary who has disassociative  identity disorder. While working a job in Egypt, Marc is left for dead and is later saved by a group who worships the Ancient Egyptian god Khonshu. Striking a deal with the god, Marc becomes the conduit for Khonshu on Earth and starts going by his alter ego Moon Knight.

Moon Knight’s cast is headlined by Oscar Isaac in the titular role and has also cast Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy as leads. The TV series avoids New York (where there are too many MCU heroes and stories) and begins in London. When Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life, he discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.

How Moon Knight will factor into the rest of the MCU is unclear, but there’s a lot of potential for his story to be great. Stay tuned for updates.
