Tom Holland Got Kicked Out of a Bar While Prepping for Uncharted

Actor Tom Holland revealed that he was kicked out of a bar in London while he was preparing for his role as Nathan “Nate” Drake in the new action-adventure film, Uncharted.

On SiriusXM’s Pop Culture Spotlight with Jessica Shaw, Holland reminisced about the time he spent secretly bartending in London to develop the mixology skills needed for his role in the new movie.  “For me, one of my favorite things about what we do for a living is when you get the opportunity to learn a new skill for a reason, other than you just want to give it a go,” Holland said. “So I went to a bartending school. I ended up doing a few shifts at this bar in London, which was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it. And it’s a nice little set piece in the movie.”

Holland also said that Nate’s bartending prowess is a good way to show that the fortune hunter is “incredibly skillful, without being a trained individual.” He believes it provides a convenient avenue in swaying the audience into thinking that there is something special about Nate, despite his lack of training.

Tom Holland hilariously recounts how he was kicked out of a London bar after secretly bartending there to prepare for his new role in Uncharted.

The Uncharted star’s cover was soon blown, however, as word quickly spread around town that he was moonlighting at that particular bar, eventually causing him to be let go from his new gig. Holland has since returned to the bar, noting, “It’s a little bit of a rocky relationship at the minute. I’ve been giving them a lot of press though. So they just shut up and let me back.”

Either way, Holland concluded his tale stating that he had a great time bartending, and revealing his favorite drink to make: “I like making an espresso martini. It’s a lot of fun.”

Uncharted is being shown in theaters now.
